G Herbo has addressed the recent federal fraud charges against him in his new song "Statement."
On Friday (December 18), the Chicago-born rapper dropped the track — along with its corresponding music video — in which he maintains his innocence.
"Let's talk about them jets, yeah, let's talk about Jamaica (Come on)/Can ask about me, I ain't never been a fraud," Herbo raps, referring to the 14-count indictment that claims he and five of his associates conducted a multi-year, million-dollar scheme by using “dark web sites” to obtain stolen credit card information, which they allegedly used to go on vacation to Jamaica, fly on private jets and buy "designer puppies."
Elsewhere in the song, Herbo raps about being unbothered about the case: "Bond money, know I'm straight/I spent a 130K out the gate (Yeah)/They like, 'Swervo stay safe,' I'm like, 'Man, y'all late' (Y'all late)/Y'all like, 'Free me,' I'm like, 'I've been in the crib all day.'"
Earlier this month, Herbo, born Herbert Wright III, was charged with wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, according to the indictment, which was filed in U.S. District Court in Springfield, Massachusetts at the beginning of December.
Following news of Herbo's charges, a rep for the ''PTSD" rapper told TMZ: "[G Herbo] maintains his innocence and looks forward to establishing his innocence in court."
