A 40-year-old Virginia man has been arrested for flying across the country to kidnap a 12-year-old girl from Fresno.
On Monday, December 14, authorities learned that the girl went missing and she was likely convinced to run away with someone. The Central California Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force handled the investigation from then on.
ICAC investigators soon discovered that the perpetrator, Nathan Larson had flown from Fresno to Virginia. Once in Fresno, he went to the girl's home and convinced her to sneak out and fly back to Virginia with him.
Investigators say that Larson made the girl wear a wig at the airport to make her appear older and asked her to act as if she was disabled.
They were scheduled to fly from Fresno to Washington DC, according to ABC30.
During a layover in Denver, Colorado, Fresno law enforcement contacted police in Denver and asked them to check the airport for Larson and the girl.
Denver authorities were able to find them at Denver International Airport. Larson was arrested and the girl was reunited with her family that same day.
While searching Larson's Virginia home on December 17, investigators found that Larson is a white supremacist and runs a website that promotes pedophilia. Larson and the girl were in communication for two months and he had convinced her to send naked pictures.
New York native Belle DelMasi tried to use social media awareness to get his website shut down when children who Larson had contacted reached out to DelMasi and shared their stories.
In 2017, Larson ran to be part of the Virginia House of Delegates. His campaign was focused on changing laws for incestual relationships and allowing sexual activity with minors.
Larson is facing five felony counts that carry a potential sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole, reports ABC30.
He will soon be transported from Denver to Fresno County Jail.
