Authorities are on the lookout for a man who is allegedly impersonating one of their own.
Michigan State Police say that a man was posing as one of their officers over the weekend. He was allegedly conducting traffic stops around Detroit.
The man donned a black uniform and apparently made stops in an unmarked Dodge Charger with red and blue lights — Michigan State Police troopers don’t use unmarked vehicles for traffic stops — near Interstate 96 and Davidson Avenue on Saturday evening (December 26), the Associated Press reported Sunday (December 27).
Officials warned motorists who are skeptical of stopping for an unmarked car to drive to a public location with hazard lights on and call police, according to the AP.
