These Oregon Cities Are Among The Best For Retirement

When it comes to retirement, one has to find that perfect place for themselves.

U.S. News released their annual list, "Best Places to Retire in the U.S. in 2020-21," looking at 150 American metropolitan areas for their picks.

Three Oregon cities made it on U.S. News' list: Portland, Eugene and Salem. The City of Roses landed at the No. 64 spot. Eugene was ranked at No. 73, while Salem came in at No. 131. Here's what the website had to say about both of these cities:

"Portland's population toes the line between an innocent playfulness and a shameless wild side... Locals tend to be friendly and laid-back while maintaining a healthy work ethic. This, combined with Portland's emphasis on self-expression, has created a breeding ground for many independent businesses and startups," Sarah Shelton said.

"The city offers the best of both worlds like very few places in the United States. Self-dubbed 'A Great City for the Arts and Outdoors,' Eugene has a thriving local arts and culture scene in concert with sprawling recreational options," Matthew Denis wrote.

"From the historic downtown area to the vineyard-covered Willamette Valley countryside, Salem, Oregon, provides a peaceful setting and a more relaxed atmosphere than you'd find in a larger city like Portland," Lyn Thomson said.

Here are the Top 10 cities from the list:

  1. Sarasota, Florida
  2. Fort Myers, Florida
  3. Port St. Lucie, Florida
  4. Naples, Florida
  5. Lancaster, Pennsylvania
  6. Ocala, Florida
  7. Ann Arbor, Michigan
  8. Asheville, North Carolina
  9. Miami, Florida
  10. Melbourne, Florida
