YUNGBLUD Performs 'Mars' On 'Jimmy Kimmel': Watch

On Wednesday (January 6), YUNGBLUD took his emotionally raw single "Mars" to the Jimmy Kimmel Live! stage (sort of). The English-rocker and his band performed the song from a stage built in a remote location.

"we took kimmel to mars and i fookin loved every minute," YUNGBLUD wrote on Instagram, sharing a video of the performance.

The vulnerable track is about a trans woman YUNGBLUD met while on Warped Tour in 2018. “She told me how her parents had come to the show with her, and how seeing our community helped them to understand that her coming out as trans wasn’t just a phase – this is who she really was,” he explained when the song was originally released. “It made me cry to think that we could have that kind of impact and change people’s perceptions, just by being ourselves.”

YUNGBLUD is part of a star-studded lineup paying tribute to David Bowie on what would be his 74th birthday (January 8) and gushed about his involvement on Instagram.

"if you know me you will know how much David meant to me," he wrote. "he taught me that it was ok for me to be unapologetically myself no matter how many versions of myself i may come across. so i am HONOURED to be performing at a concert in his honour. can’t wait to reveal what im singing.

A Bowie Celebration: Just For One Day! kicks off at 6pm PT/ 9pm ET on January 8. Tickets are on sale now, and ticket holders will have access to the stream for 24 hours after the initial broadcast. Get more ticket info here.
