San Antonio's Cowboys Dancehall Cited For Packed Cody Johnson Concert

San Antonio's Cowboys Dancehall received two citations for violating the city's COVID-19 protocols by hosting two Cody Johnson concerts over the weekend.

The citations were for a lack of social distancing and a lack of mask wearing. The dance hall now has seven COVID-19 related citations and is at risk of being shut down by the city, News4 reported.

“It is on notice that any further issues and they will be shut down,” Mayor Ron Nirenberg said in a statement. “With the level of transmission we are seeing out there, this is not the time to be having an event like that,”

Several social media videos from Johnson's Saturday concert show crowds of people standing closely together.

Concertgoers told KSAT that the dance hall took peoples' temperature before they entered the building. Staff members also made sure people wore masks.

While some concertgoers said Cowboys was following COVID-19 rules, others said that there were too many people in the venue.

“I know they were supposed to be operating at a much-reduced capacity. But even given how many people were there, I still feel like it still probably should have been reduced more,” Howard Wilson told the TV station.
