Getting stuck in traffic is never fun, and researchers are learning that it may be bad for your wallet, too.
According to INRIX, congestion costed U.S. drivers $88 billion in 2019 and an average of 99 hours of their time. While research shows congestion is overall down due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year, there are other headaches to worry about driving. Road quality, gas prices and more are something to consider when heading out.
WalletHub looked at each state to see which ones have the better driving experiences and which ones are the worst. Where does Florida rank?
The Sunshine State came at No. 48, according to the study. Floridians seem to enjoy taking care of their cars, since the state was No. 3 for access to vehicle and maintenance. It was also among the states with the most car washes and auto repair shops per capita. Researchers did ding it for having the highest percentage of rush-hour traffic congestion.
