A gusty storm ripped through Northern California on Tuesday night (January 26) leaving behind debris and damaged property.
Many Sacramento residents woke up on Wednesday, January 27, to damaged houses, cars, and businesses due to the storm.
The storm also caused massive power outages across large parts of Sacramento on Wednesday morning, according to CBS13. The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) reported over 110,000 customers were without power.
Drivers were advised to be extra cautious as the streets were littered with debris like traffic signs and trees that had been knocked over by the wind.
One Mansion Flats home was nearly cut in half by a tree that crashed into it.
A neighbor recalls hearing a loud crash at about 11:30 P.M. on Tuesday night. When he looked outside, he saw the tree that had crashed through his neighbor's house on 13th and D Streets.
"The top half of this giant tree is broken and fallen through this house, and cut through it like a knife through butter," Eric Rose told CapRadio. "Nobody was hurt, but just a lot of damage."
The storm wreaked more havoc around the busier areas of Sacramento too.
According to CBS13, a large tree fell on and crushed a car parked near H & 24th streets.
For restaurants that had outdoor dining set up, owners are reeling from their tents being destroyed or blown away by the storm.
"Some tents were not savable, some blew away," a district manager IHOP restaurants in the region Rafael Velazquez told CapRadio. "So we're, you know, in shambles right now, trying to figure out what we could do to save our business."
