Cardi B's newest musical serving is right around the corner.
On Monday (February 1), the hip-hop titan took to social media to share the announcement. "My new single 'UP' drops this Friday! LETS GOOOOOO! #Up." To pair with the news, Bardi included the cover art for the track, which sees her in a swing above an infinity pool overlooking the city. In addition to the announcement, the rapper shared a link to her webstore, where fans can purchase a limited-edition copy of a CD single of the new track.
Back in December, the rapper opened up to Billboard about her new album, admitting that the sophomore effort won't feature many "deep" tracks because she still gets "uncomfortable" when rapping about her personal life. "When it comes to me writing or putting ideas of my personal life [in the music], I get really shy," she told the outlet. "When I perform songs like 'Be Careful' or 'Ring,' I usually close my eyes because I get really shy about showing that lovey-dovey side. When it was time to get more creative with my love side or my R&B side, I was like, 'This makes me feel weird and uncomfortable. [...] Even to my engineer, I start giggling. I be like, 'Oh, my God, I can’t. This is so embarrassing.'"
That said, Bardi Gang can look forward to a female collaboration on her upcoming collection that fills the "deep" quota. "It's with another female artist, but even when I was recording it, I had to take a lot of breaks," she confessed. "I was looking at my engineer and he was looking like, 'Yeah, Cardi, I feel you.'"
