The Tampa Bay Buccaneers weren't the only big winners on Super Bowl Sunday.
Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale of Houston won $3.46 million after correctly betting that the Buccaneers would beat the Kansas City Chiefs.
“Tampa Bay is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and led by the greatest football player of all time in Tom Brady, so I’m betting big on the Bucs who have overcome tough matchups throughout the postseason,” McIngvale said in a statement before the game.
He flew to Colorado Springs to place his bet via a mobile app because online sports betting is illegal in Texas.
McIngvale also made a bet with his customers at Gallery Furniture. As part of a promotion, customers who spent $3,000+ on certain mattresses will get their purchases for free since Tampa Bay won, KHOU reported.
“I think it’s great. Obviously Tampa Bay played terrific,” McIngvale told Fox 26. “The happiest thing for me is so many customers were thrilled watching that game with their families. They’re getting a free mattress and they made the right choice buying from us during this promotion. Our customers believe in us and put their faith and trust in us."
He held a similar promotion in 2017 when the Houston Astros won the World Series and he to refund $13 million.
