Western PA Company Plays Major Role In Super Bowl LV

A Western Pennsylvania company played a key role in the pageantry of Super Bowl LV.

Pyrotecnico, a pyrotechnics and special effects company based in New Castle, created the fireworks displayed at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Sunday (February 7.)

“Our company’s purpose is to create ‘Ooohhhs’ and ‘Aahhhs,’” said Pyrotecnico CEO Stephen Vitale via WPXI. “We have an amazingly dedicated group of people that work hard each and every day to put smiles on people’s faces.”

The company's presence at Super Bowl LV is the culmination of years of hard work for the local business, which was founded by Italian immigrants in 1889.

“It’s the biggest show on Earth, something we’ve been preparing for our whole careers,” Vitale said via WPXI. “We added a whole array of special effects to the festivities. A lot of people think fireworks just go up in the sky, but we’re using highly specialized pyrotechnics, C02 (fog) effects, different atmospheric effects.”

Pyrotecnico was responsible for effects featured during festivities throughout the week leading up to Sunday's game, which included player introductions, the national anthem, the halftime performance by The Weeknd, and the postgame ceremony.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who became the first NFL team to play in and win a Super Bowl in their home stadium, have been a Pyrotecnico client for about 18 years, WPXI reports.

The Bucs defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-9, in Super Bowl LV.
