Gas Works Park got some major recognition this week.
The Seattle city park was nominated as one of the best city parks in all of North America by USA Today. Located in in the Wallingford neighborhood, people drop by for its amazing views of Lake Union and downtown Seattle. Here's what the publication had to say about the park:
"This rather unique park on the site of a former coal gasification plant is now one of Seattle’s favorite spots for picnicking and bicycling on the shores of Lake Union. Visitors will find a play area, a big hill popular for kite flying, and stellar views of the Seattle skyline."
The park ranks at No. 9 among 19 other city parks on the list as of Sunday (February 7). Balboa Park in San Diego and Forest Park in Portland were also featured. They were chosen with the help from a team of park and planning expert, according to USA Today.
Voting is open to choose your favorite park. The top 10 parks will be announced on Feb. 26.
