A couple from Camp Verde was recently arrested for running a "large-scale psychedelic drug business" from their home.
Adam Dearmon, 49, and Tiffany Michelle Smith, 48, are both facing multiple drug charges, reported AZ Family.
Police say that they found $30,000 worth of psychedelic drugs inside of Dearmon's home.
According to Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, Dearmon's operation included having packages of mescaline shipped to his house from Peru.
Officials searched the house and found the following:
- 8.9 pounds of mescaline
- 427 live peyote plants
- 83 marijuana plants
- 29 pounds of dry peyote
- 59 pounds of processed marijuana
- Five pounds of psilocybin mushrooms
- Seven LSD tabs
There were also many other substance found during the search, and detective are working to identify them.
According to YCSO, Dearmon may have started a Native American church to justify selling the drugs.
Yavapai County Sheriff David Rhodes stated, "Individuals exploiting sacred Native American rituals to illegally sell massive amounts of psychedelics and other drugs in our community will be held accountable. I'm proud that we could partner with multiple agencies to help arrest Dearmon and keep our community safe."
Dearmon was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges of possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, cultivating marijuana, possession of peyote for sale, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Smith is facing similar charges for her role in the operation.
On February 3rd, both were released on a $10,000 bond.
