How Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Congratulated Princess Eugenie On New Baby

On Tuesday (February 9), Princess Eugenie revealed she welcomed her first child—a baby boy—with her husband Jack Brooksbank. The 30-year-old royal shared her happy news in quite a modern way—she posted a black and white photo of her son's hand on Instagram.

The Palace, however, released an official statement sharing the news in keeping with royal tradition. "Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered of a son today, 9th February 2021, at 8: 55 a.m. at The Portland Hospital," the announcement reads. "Jack Brooksbank was present."

"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr. and Mrs. George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news," the statement continues. "Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."

A number of Princess Eugenie's fellow royals, including her uncle Prince Charles, released public statements of congratulations following the birth. Princess Eugenie is believed to be quite close with her cousin, Prince Harry, but since he no longer has a social media account, royal watchers didn't get to see any publicly celebratory words from the Duke of Sussex. A source close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, however, told Town & Country the couple has congratulated the new parents in private.

As of now, Princess Eugenie has not announced her son's name. U.K. bookmakers believe the baby is likely to be named after Eugenie's grandfather, Prince Philip. Only time will though.
