National Weather Service: Milwaukee Snowfall Breaks 20-Year Record

Milwaukee is digging its way through record-breaking snowfall on Tuesday (February 16), following a winter storm.

This breaks a two-decade record, TMJ4 reported.

The city got 22 inches of snow around the General Mitchell International Airport observation site, according to the National Weather Service. That’s the highest recorded since January of 2001.

The record snowfall comes after the state endured bitter-cold temperatures over the weekend, including dropping to the single digits and wind chills falling below zero.

The National Weather Service warned of “slippery roads” and “very cold temperatures and frigid wind chills.”

Earlier this month, parts of Wisconsin — including Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine and Kenosha counties — experienced so many inches of snowfall that the National Weather Service confirmed it was “more snow than we’ve seen in a decade.”
