Police Investigate Creepy Envelopes Taped To Doors Of CU Boulder Students

The Boulder Police Department (BPD) is currently investigating suspicious white envelopes that were taped to the front doors of several sorority and fraternity houses at CU Boulder.

The white envelopes contained CDs that had audio recordings from the TV show Criminal Minds, according to KDVR. After police obtained the CDs they discovered the audio included scenes from an episode about an arsonist.

According to police, the envelopes were taped to the doors at around 1:30 A.M. on Monday, February 15.

Police were contacted after a surveillance video showed a person walking up the front door of one of the homes, taping the envelope to the door, and then running away.

They received at least five reports of the same incidents, all at sorority and fraternity houses.

At one point, BPD turned to the public to gather any information about the potentially criminal activity.

On Tuesday, February 16, BPD and University of Colorado Boulder police informed the public that the letters left on front doors were part of a scavenger hunt.

BPD said they were contacted by people involved in the game after they found out about the concerns over the contents in their envelopes.

According to KDVR, there will be no criminal charges filed as part of their investigation.
