Employees at a Colorado Spring's Papa John's are claiming that they were forced to make food despite unsanitary conditions last weekend.
Several videos posted on TikTok showed employees trying to turn on the water in the kitchen sinks.
"It's zero degrees outside. Our water hasn't been working all day, literally," says one employee in a TikTok video. "I haven't been able to wash my hands while making pizzas, so I clocked out."
Four employees spoke with KDRO about the fact that they were told by management to keep working despite not having access to working sinks.
The man seen in the video is Zachary Rambo, who is no longer employed at the restaurant.
"Pipes were frozen from the weather," said Rambo. "It was zero degrees, and he pretty much just said get to work. They are selling pizzas without washing their hands, during COVID, during a health epidemic."
After he recorded the video and left in the middle of his shift, Rambo returned to Papa John's two hours later to see if the water was back on.
When he arrived Rambo said managers told him to leave and even threatened to call the police on him.
Another employee recorded a video showing no water coming out of the sinks and said the restaurant will still taking orders. That employee told KDRO he chose to quit due to the unsanitary conditions.
Two more employees backed up Rambo's allegations.
According to El Paso County Public Health, a lack of water in a restaurant is considered a health hazard and requires it remained closed until working water is restored.
It was confirmed that the locations shut down after they realized a burst pipe could not be fixed without a part.
El Paso County Health officials said the location provided proof they had running water and reopened on Sunday, February 14.
