San Antonio Water System is accepting applications from area residents who need help repairing pipes damaged during a recent winter storm.
SAWS' Community Pipe Repair is focused on pipes that must be fixed before water service can be restored. CPR is giving eligible residents up to $1,500 for repairs.
“While SAWS has restored water service to its entire service area, there are still some customers who can’t access the water because of pipe breaks and bursts that are preventing water flow to their homes. This program will fill in that gap so our neighbors can have reliable access to drinking water again," said SAWS President and CEO Robert Puente in a statement.
To qualify, residents must own or rent a single-family home valued at $140,000 or less. People who live in homes valued above $140,000 can still apply if their household income is at or below 140% of the federal poverty line.
Renters must be get a waiver signed by the property owner to be eligible for the program.
Applications can be submitted online at the SAWS website.
The city of San Antonio also has a website set up for those in need for shelter, food, water, and other resources. Go to https://strongertogether.sanantonio.gov/.
