Customer Sets Off Fireworks Inside Sacramento Walmart

Things got explosive in a North Sacramento Walmart over the weekend.

The Walmart in Natomas had to be evacuated due to a fire that was caused by a customer setting off fireworks in the clothing department, reports CBS13.

The Sacramento Fire Department reported on Sunday, February 28, a customer allegedly set off fireworks that they place inside of clothing in the men's department.

The firework soon caused a fire inside the store prompting an evacuation of the entire store.

The incident occurred at the Walmart on Truxel Road in the Natomas Marketplace. According to the fire department, it received reports of the fire around 2:45 P.M.

The fire, caused by the firework which was wrapped in a shirt and lit, was relatively small and didn't grow, according to CBS13.

Although clothing in the men's department was affected, nothing else in the store was damaged and no one was hurt.

While crews from the fire department worked to evacuate customers due to the smoke, officials said a Walmart employee was able to put it out with a fire extinguisher.

CBS13 reports that the store was able to reopen just over an hour later at 4:00 P.M.

The person who set off the firework was not found and no other details about the incident have been released.
