After a year that severely impacted Nashville's restaurant and retail industries, a new unique development years in the making has finally opened to the public. Fifth + Broadway, located across from Bridgestone Arena and the Ryman Auditorium, is the city's first dining and retail district and includes the "largest food hall in the country," according to News Channel 5.
The project began construction in 2017, and will ultimately include over 30 restaurants and retail stores, nearly 400 apartment units, office space, and is even home to the National Museum of African American music, which opened earlier this year.
"FIfth + Broadway builds on the strong identity of downtown as the neighborhood where everyone can find something special and uniquely Nashville, in an unprecedented way," said Tom Turner, president and CEO, Nashville Downtown Partnership.
Thursday's (March 4) grand opening will be the first of two, News Channel 5 reports. The second grand opening will take place in May at the completion of Phase 2. Some of the stores and dining options opening Thursday include Hattie B's Hot Chicken, Slim & Husky's, Shake Shack, Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream, Ray-Ban, Free People, Nash Collection, Sephora, and more. The Assembly Food Hall will eventually include options like DeSano Pizzeria, NoBaked Cookie Dough, Thai Esane, Cotton & Snow, and more.
Other features of the unique development include several bars, a large rooftop live music venue, and three stages, all with the hopes of eventually showcasing Music City at its finest as life returns to normal and live performances can once again reign supreme.
"So much heart and hard work has been put into making this something Nashville will be proud of," said Tom Miller, general manager. "People returning to downtown, both local and visiting, will discover a destination unlike anything before in Nashville. In the future will come programmed events and installations, which along with the best tenants, will keep people engaged, excited, and coming back again and again."
