Improperly Discarded Smoking Materials Caused 2-Alarm Fire In Vegas Complex

Crews battled a two-alarm fire in the central Las Vegas valley on Tuesday morning, reported News 3 Las Vegas.

According to dispatch records, crews responded to a fire at an apartment building on Arville, which is just south of Spring Mountain.

The fire was reported around 10:50 a.m.

The fire is being described as a high-level structure fire.

According to an email from Larry Haydu with the Clark County Fire Department that was sent to News 3, about 27 people were on the scene of the fire at the Twain Estate Apartments.

Firefighters on the scene could hear people calling from help who were rescued from the building.

Four people were treated for their injuries, with three transported to a local hospital.

An update from Haydu stated that one person died as a result of the fire.

According to Clark County Battalion Chief Rian Glassford, the fire likely started on the bottom floor and spread upward.

The buildings connected to the one on fire were evacuated. Red Cross was on the scene to help those displaced by the fire.

A update stated that fire crews believed the fire started because of "improperly discarded smoking materials."
