Kayaking at the River Walk is here to stay.
In October, Mission Kayak started allowing people to paddle through parts of the River Walk for the first time in 20 years. The experience was such a hit that it was extended through January and February.
Now, after negations between the city, Mission Kayak, and the river barge company Go Rio, kayaking will be offered year around.
"Kayaking on the River Walk is a unique experience that gives participants the opportunity to experience the beauty of the River Walk from the river itself," Mayor Ron Nirenberg said in a statement last year.
Kayakers can either rent a watercraft or bring their own and navigate the River Walk. A reservation is required so people can't just plop their kayak in the water and paddle away.
Kayaking will be available Tuesday-Sunday mornings during spring break (March 9-21) then return to the normal Fri-Sun morning schedule after spring break. Two-hour kayak rentals will be $60 while its $30 if you bring your own kayak.
