A California man went to odd lengths to promote a restaurant in the Los Angeles area.
Stuntman Hunter Ray Barker spent 24 hours sitting in an inflatable pool filled with bean dip from Los Toros Mexican Restaurant on Monday, March 8.
While Barker lounged in the bean dip pool, a block party at the restaurant in Chatworth took place. During the party, he also received a tattoo of the three bulls featured in the restaurant's logo.
Barker said he wanted to support the eatery, which has suffered losses from the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been one of his favorite spots for years.
"Obviously, a stunt like this is ridiculous -- it's absurd, it's wild, but as with any stunt, I'm always in favor of something that edges on the side of absurdity if it can celebrate and at least make a couple of people laugh," Barker told Patch. "If we can get more attention and turn a few more people into lifelong customers, that's what I love about it too."
He told Patch he wouldn't leave the pool until the 24 hours was up, not even to take a bathroom break.
The party took place from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and Barker spent the event talking to customers about why he loves the restaurant so much.
Barker, a long-time stunt performer, says he has shifted to helping small businesses like Los Toros while work for film stunts has been rare due to the pandemic.
