The Grand Canyon University Antelopes are heading to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the school's history, reported one Arizona sports station.
GCU won the conference tournament 74-56 over New Mexico State on Saturday night. The win clinched an automatic bid for the team.
GCU is the No. 15 seed, and will be matched up against the No. 2 seed, Iowa, in the West Region.
The 'Loped and Hawkeyes will tip-off on Saturday at 3:25 p.m. MST. The game will be aired on TBS for those that want to watch from afar.
If GCU wins their first-ever NCAA tournament game, they'll move on to play the winner of the matchup between the No. 7 seed Oregon and No. 10 seed VCU. That game will take place on March 22nd.
Some notable powerhouses also in the West Region include No. 1 seed Gonzaga, No. 3 seed Kansas, and No. 6 seed Virginia.
The Antelopes' head coach, Bryce Drew, is looking for a repeat of his accomplishments as a player in the 1998 tournament where he hit a buzzer-beating three to win the game for No. 13 seed Valparaiso over No. 4 seed Ole Miss.
