After being postponed, the Oscars nominations have finally been unveiled.
On Monday (March 15), Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas announced the Academy Award nominations in a two-part live stream presentation. Among the titles competing for Best Picture include The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Mank, Minari, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman, Sound of Metal and The Trial of the Chicago 7. Meanwhile, this year's batch of nods also made history as it sees two women nominated in the Best Director category, a first for the award show. Chloé Zhao (Nomadland), Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman), Thomas Vinterberg (Another Round), David Fincher (Mank) and Lee Isaac Chung (Minari) all received nods in the category.
"In this unique year that has asked so much of so many, the Academy is determined to present an Oscars like none other, while prioritizing the public health and safety of all those who will participate," a spokesperson for the Academy told Variety. "To create the in-person show our global audience wants to see, while adapting to the requirements of the pandemic, the ceremony will broadcast live from multiple locations, including the landmark Dolby Theatre."
