AMC Plans To Reopen California Theaters

AMC says it's aiming to reopen close to all of its California theaters next week if local authorities allow it.

In a news release, AMC announced it was reopening two flagship Los Angeles locations on March 15 and was preparing to resume operations at all California theaters on March 19. However, that's only "assuming the proper local approvals are in place," reports FOX5.

The reopening is contingent on the AMC Safe & Clean plan. Theaters will abide by state and local regulations for seating capacity and spacing between seats will allow for social distancing.

They are also committing to enhanced cleaning producers, contactless ticketing, and guests and staff must wear face masks at all times inside the theater.

Concessions will be based on local guidelines regarding the consumption of food and drink. AMC will also start offering mobile ordering to decrease the amount of time guests spend around the concession stands.

By the time AMC plans to reopen California theaters most counties will be in the red tier which allows movie theaters to reopen at 25% capacity.

The CDPH announced that San Diego, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Kings, Lake, Monterey, Riverside, Santa Barbara, Sutter, Tehama, Tulare, Ventura, and Yuba counties would be moving from the purple to red tier on Wednesday, March 17.
