Another person has been charged in connection to a deadly shooting at a motorcycle shop in Columbia last week, this time an employee at the store. One man was killed and three others were injured during the incident on March 11 at Capital City Cycles on Two Notch Road.
Deputies with Richland County arrested 49-year-old Dawonda Thomas-Powell, a shop employee, on Monday (March 22), WIS News reports. According to Sheriff Leon Lott, Thomas-Powell is charged with assault by mob in the first degree and obstruction after allegedly conspiring with gang members and attempting to hide her involvement.
According to WLTX, a violent altercation between rival gangs in the parking lot outside the shop escalated and eventually led to the death of 55-year-old Charles Lilly. Three other people were injured during the incident.
Sheriff Lott said a fellow gang member, 58-year-old James Hill, has been charged for Lilly's death and for assault by mob in the first degree. Two others have also been charged in connection to the shooting: Kristopher Wheat is facing charges of assault by mob in the first degree, obstruction, and unlawful possession of a pistol; and Corey Booth has been charged with unlawful possession of a pistol.
The investigation remains ongoing.
