A bystander helped police catch a driver who crashed a car into a building and fled the scene in Broward County, reports WPLG.
The incident occurred in Hollywood around 5:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 27, according to police.
They were responding to a call about a traffic crash at 2201 Sheridan Street, but when they arrived at the scene they found a car abandoned inside a Wholesale Flooring Depot building.
Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) said a preliminary investigation revealed that the car was traveling at a high rate speed when it went over railroad tracks and became airborne.
The car landed 50 feet from the tracks and hit a curb which caused the driver to lose control. The car went another 300 feet before it crashed into the building, making its way inside.
BSO told WPLG no one was inside the business at the time of the crash.
Once the car was stopped, a witness said the driver got out of the car, removed the license plate, and fled the scene.
A bystander called the police and chased down the driver until Hollywood police officers were able to capture the suspect.
The driver was arrest by BSO deputies for fleeing the scene of an accident with property damage, reports WPLG.
