Man Arrested For Beating East Nashville Partygoer With Guitar

A man has been charged with assault months after an altercation in East Nashville sent another man to the hospital. According to WKRN, Metro-Nashville Police have identified and arrested the man they say is responsible for attacking the host of a New Year's party with a guitar.

Around 4 a.m. January 1, officers responded to the scene of a reported assault at an apartment on Shelby Avenue near South Eight Street, the news outlet reports. A police report state that the host of the party was attacked by another man and sent to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he received around two dozens stitches for his injuries.

After the attack, the victim told police he knew his attacker only as "Seven," and claimed he forced his way into the party before kicking and punching the victim. When the victim fell to the ground, he said, that's when "Seven" began hitting him with a guitar, WKRN reports.

Police eventually identified "Seven" as 55-year-old George Simpson. Simpson reportedly arrived at the party with another guest before an altercation "over a woman" ended with the attack.

Simpson was arrested on Thursday (April 1) and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated burglary. He was booked into Metro Jail on a bond of $15,000.
