Here's How To See The Pink Supermoon Over Colorado Tonight

On Monday, April 26, the full pink supermoon will rise over Colorado. However, some parts of the state might have trouble viewing it due to clouds, reports CBS4.

The moon will be full at 9:31 P.M. MDT on Monday night. Not only will the moon be full, but it will also be a supermoon which means it is a full moon that is closest to the Earth. The National Weather Service predicts a partly cloudy sky for when the moon begins to rise around 7:00 P.M.

While supermoons aren't exactly rare-- they're a regular occurrence during the Moon's orbit of Earth, they're still a sight to behold.

During a supermoon, it appears around 14% bigger and up to 30% brighter than a full moon at its furthest point away from us, according to the Natural History Museum.

The pink supermoon will also not actually be the color pink on Monday. Its name actually comes from the pink flowers that bloom during this time of year.

Other names for the April full moon range from Sprouting Grass Moon to the Egg Moon.

Even if you don't manage to see the pink supermoon at exactly 9:31 P.M. on Monday, the moon will still be extra big and bright through Wednesday, April 28.
