Over 14K On Waiting List To Buy Homes In San Diego's New 3Roots Community

Thousands of people are on the waitlist for a new residential community that hasn't even been built yet.

San Diego's newest residential community is 3Roots in Mira Mesa. They plan to build 1,800 homes by 2025 and 2026, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Around 200 homes are expected to open this year but the interest list has already exceeded 14,000 people and it's expected to grow before pre-sale starts in June.

The developers are still figuring out who will get to buy the homes with such high demand.

In the past, San Diego County builders have used lotteries in the past.

The 3Roots project will feature condos, townhouses, single-family homes, and subsidized rentals over 413 acres.

According to the Union-Tribune, prices for townhouses start at $600,000 and go up into the millions for single-family homes.

The homes will be 3,175 square feet and start in the low $1.2 million. However, prices are subject to change as the project gets closer to opening.

The location of the project, which is between the I-805 and I-15 freeways, is also attracting so many people.

3Roots told the Union-Tribune most of the interest has come from locals who live within a 5 to 6-mile radius of the project site.
