The Port of San Diego's Big Bay Boom is returning after last year's in-person fireworks show was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, reports FOX5.
This year, the Fourth of July fireworks celebration will be held in person at San Diego's Bayfront.
The Big Bay Boom is Southern California's largest fireworks show and typically draws up to half a million people.
The executive producer for the event, Sandy Purdon said the fireworks show will begin at 9:00 P.M.
People who wish to see the fireworks display can bring lawn chairs and watch from Shelter Island, Harbor Island, North Embarcadero, Marina District, or Coronado Ferry Landing.
Groups can also hop on boats to watch the show from the water. However, they must stay within the 1,000 feet safety zones around their four fireworks barges.
While watching the fireworks display, viewers can enjoy a synchronized music soundtrack heard only on 101.5 KGB FM and on the iHeartRadio app.
The Big Bay Boom fireworks show benefits the Armed Services YMCA's family service programs for military families as well as wounded warriors at Naval Medical Center San Diego.
Last year, the firework show was held as an hour-long broadcast called "Big Bay Boom: A Salute to Heroes" so San Diegans could enjoy Fourth of July Fireworks from the safety of their homes.
