Denver's Cheesman Park will be home to a unique futuristic concert experience.
Thanks to geolocation technology, which is the ability to track a phone's location using GPS, cell phone towers, or WiFi access points, Divya Maus has created a "Soundwalk," which allows people to choose their own concert experience as they walk through the park.
“It’s basically a musical choose your own adventure,” Maus told FOX31. “You can walk your dog in this concert, you can sit down and meditate in the grass in this concert. If you don’t like a sound? You just leave.”
Maus and her contemporary chamber choir LA Choral Lab also debuted a similar soundwalk experience in Los Angeles, California.
The music in "Rain Cycle: A Denver Soundwalk" is composed of human voices as well as bees, birds, and choral movements as you walk through the park.
“What they’ll see is basically something like google maps with bubbles drawn on it,” said Maus. “And when you walk into a bubble, it will show a little blue dot, like on any GPS device. That is you, you are moving the blue dot, and when you press on the bubble it will tell you this is the sound you are listening to.”
To experience the soundwalk all you need is a smartphone and a pair of headphones. Then you can access the soundwalk by downloading the "Echoes" app onto your phone.
