A Sacramento attorney is weighing on Britney Spears' recent request to a Los Angeles judge to end a conservatorship that has controlled every aspect of her life for 13 years.

Attorney Daniel Hunt has also previously appeared before the judge who is overseeing Spears' case, Judge Brenda Penny.

Hunt spoke to CBS13 about the case.

“Britney spears should not be in a conservatorship. She should have these rights,” said Hunt. “It’s crazy, it’s unconscionable that somebody with her capacity has been placed under a conservatorship.”

On Wednesday, June 23, Spears' made a virtual court appearance telling Judge Penny, "I want to end the conservatorship without being evaluated. In the meantime I want this therapist to come to my home… I'm not willing to go to Westlake and be embarrassed by all these paparazzi."

Hunt's law firm in Sacramento specializes in estate planning, administration, and litigation. He has worked on countless conservatorship cases over the past decade.

“My opinion, that petition will be granted, this conservatorship is going to be done,” Hunt said. “I was quite frankly shocked that it was established and shocked that it’s still there.”

Having appeared before Judge Penny also gives Hunt hope for the fate of Spears' case.

“She sits and listens to people tell their story and she is very patient and a great judge, she makes good decisions,” he said. “I think because of that, the fact that she is going to sit there and listen and say, ‘Is this the least restrictive method for Britney Spears to be protected? I don’t think it is.’ ”
