In a twist of events, Britney Spears' father, Jamie Spears, believes that there is "no grounds whatsoever" for him to step down as her conservative in the 13-year arrangement.
On Friday (August 6), Jamie made the statement in a court filing just one day after the pop titan’s new lawyer, Matthew Rosengart, had requested an expedited hearing to suspect Spears from the conservatorship. James Spears "has dutifully and faithfully served as the conservator of his daughter’s estate without any blemishes on his record," his filing said. He also said that Rosengart "does not (and cannot) specify what the wrongdoing is" to prompt such a suspension.
Elsewhere in the filing, he said that it was court-appointed professional Jodi Montgomery, who oversees the singer's personal affairs, while Jamie handles her money, who called him in July to share her concerns for his daughter's mental health. Montgomery and her lawyer hit back at the claims and said that Jamie "misrepresented and manipulated" the call to use it to his own advantage.
Spears has made it clear as day that she wants the conservatorship to end and has gone as far as admitting that she wants to pursue legal action against her abusers. In the meantime, the entertainer’s legal team is vying for CPA Jason Rubin to take over. Should this request be approved, Rubin would be in control of Britney's entire estate, as well as be given powers of attorney over the singer's health care decisions and real estate portfolio. In court documents for the filing for Rubin, it was revealed that Britney and Jamie's fractured relationship has been "traumatizing, insane and depressing" for the singer. With Jamie on board, the legal docs describe her conservator as "venomous."
