Anyone who has ever lived with roommates is familiar with the occasional squabble, arguing about dishes piled up in the sink or whose turn it is to take out the trash. And when someone steals another person's food, things can get really heated. However, these situations rarely turn violent. Unfortunately for one person in Tennessee, an incident of missing food led to an attack by their roommates.
Metro Nashville Police arrested two people on Wednesday (August 11) after they supposedly attacked their roommate with a machete and oxygen tank, per WKRN. According to investigators, the fight began at a residence on Palmer Avenue in Madison when an argument broke out over food taken from the refrigerator.
A police warrant states that 45-year-old David Curry confronted the victim about the missing food, ultimately punching the victim and causing them both fall into a window. Hearing a commotion, their other roommate, 46-year-old Wanda Plumely, ran in and saw Curry putting the victim in a chokehold. She entered the fray and reportedly began beating the victim with an oxygen tank.
According to the police report, Curry attempted to gauge out the victim's eyes and threatened to "chop off the victim's head" before hitting them with a machete, the news outlet reports.
Both Curry and Plumely were each charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Metro jail on a $5,000 bond.
