Monday Night Football is getting the Drake treatment.
On Tuesday (September 7), Billboard reported that the hip-hop titan is collaborating with ESPN to curate music for 10 Monday Night Football games, starting this week. The selection of songs will include tunes from his sixth studio LP, Certified Lover Boy, as well as his classics and cuts from other acts chosen by the rapper. He previously revealed the release date of the LP on ESPN's flagship program, SportsCenter.
"Now we are here, the kickoff of the football season and who better to curate music for Monday Night Football than Drake who sits firmly at the intersection of music and sports?" Emeka Ofodile, VP of Sports Marketing at ESPN, said in a statement. "We couldn’t be more excited for this upcoming collaboration. The music curator role has been a big hit with our fans with Diplo and DJ Khaled in previous years and this season, we will be living inside the moment with Drake as our NFL on ESPN soundtrack."
Drizzy's Monday Night Football gig comes after Certified Lover Boy finally dropped on Friday. The collection, which features names like Lil Baby, Travis Scott, Future and more, has broken streaming records and caused waves on social media. As per Hits Daily Double, the set is projected to move 575-625k copies in its first week, with about 50k coming from pure sales.
