A 12-year-old boy was the victim of a random assault while on a bus in Los Angeles. The boy, who was not identified, was on his way to visit his grandmother when another man boarded and sat next to him. Then, out of nowhere, the man started attacking the boy.

"The guy sucker-punched my son and hit him right in the face and just got to whaling on my son for no reason, and of course, this is disturbing," the boy's father, Billy Brown, told KKTV.

"He was just mad, and he started hitting me and stuff in the head. I tried to protect myself, and I tried to block some of the hits, but I couldn't block all of them," the boy told the news station.

Other passengers on the bus did nothing as the man continued to assault the 12-year-old.

"My son tells me that the guy then grabbed his shirt and slung him around to the other side of the bus and continued to beat on him and all this time, there are passengers on the bus, and there's a bus driver, and no one does anything to intervene," Brown said.

Eventually, the man stopped attacking the boy, grabbed his bag, and got off the bus. Only one person went to check on the boy and asked if he wanted to call the police.

Brown wants to know why nobody did anything to intervene while his son was being attacked.

"I deal with violence, intervention, and prevention, so for this to happen to my son, I'm like, hold on, a 12-year-old boy got attacked by a 40-year-old male, and no one did anything? No one is explaining to me protocol as far as how they deal with that."

The suspect was identified as 36-year-old David Manuel Santana Garcia. He was taken into custody and is facing charges of child cruelty, assault, battery, and other public transportation charges.
