An 18-month hiatus is coming to an end for live shows at Chicago’s Lakefront stage.

Chicago LIVE Again! promises “two days of free outdoor performances from more than 40 of Chicago’s brightest cultural icons.” It’s slated for September 24 and September 25, packing the weekend with “back-to-back performances the likes of which haven’t been seen in the city in more than a year,” according to Chicago LIVE Again! Organizers say:

“Since the pandemic hit, most of our city’s stages have been dark. The performing arts world was hit first by the pandemic shut-down and is now last to re-emerge. But now it’s time to welcome live performance back to Chicago, and we’re giving you a generous first taste of the 2021 Fall Arts Season at Navy Pier. With two main stages and pop-up surprises along the Pier, something amazing will always be happening…Bring your lawn chairs and pack a cooler to make a day of it or enjoy the variety of fast food and sit-down dining options, most with roots in Chicago’s neighborhoods.”

Performances kick off at 5 p.m. and run until 8 p.m. on September 24, and from noon to 9:30 p.m. on September 25. Find more info about Chicago LIVE Again! — including the list of performers — here.
