Utah’s Hogle Zoo is planning to cancel one of its biggest Halloween events of the year, reported Fox 13 Salt Lake City. This is due to a recent surge in COVID-19 cases.
On Tuesday, the zoo announced that it’s a popular event “Boo at the Zoo” will not take place this year. The event typically has about 10,000 to 15,000 people in attendance each year.
The zoo released an announcement that said:
“While we understand this is disappointing news, we hope you can understand the steps we are taking to help keep our staff and attendees safe and healthy. We simply do not have the capacity to safely host all attendees during a pandemic. Thank you for your continued interest in Boo at the Zoo.”
The zoo did clarify that the “BooLights” event will still take place in the month of October. That event is a month long event with Halloween-themed lights placed all throughout the zoo grounds. The zoo's website states, "It’s time for BooLights! As scary as this year has been, we’re all systems a GO for a little bit of not-so-spooky fun."
