A woman in Utah lost her phone, leading police to a massive drug sales operation, reported 2 KUTV. The woman asked police to check the location of where her phone was pinging from.
Police entered the home and immediately smelled marijuana. Inside the home, police confiscated $40,000 worth of drugs, $53,000 in cash, and a rifle.
Springville Police Department wrote on Facebook:
"On Sept. 19th Springville Officers received a request from a local woman who had lost her cell phone, to check a residence where the phone was now pinging. Officers knocked on the door and when the residents opened the door, the officers immediately smelled the strong odor of marijuana. The officers began using excellent investigative skills, during which time the male suspect tried to run away. Officers chased the male and were eventually able to take him into custody. After obtaining a search warrant, officers searched the home and discovered a drug sales operation, confiscating $40,000 in drugs, $53,000 in cash (drug money), and a loaded assault rifle. The man was booked into jail and a female was released on a citation."
One male suspect tried to run but was caught and booked into jail. One female suspect was released on citation.
