There's a wild pig problem in the East Bay.

Homeowners in Lafayette have been complaining about wild pigs rampaging through their well-manicured yards, reports KRON.

According to officials, they are working on fixing the problem.

This isn't the first time feral hogs have terrorized residents in the area. According to KRON, the pig problem first started in 2019 and a trapper was called in to help.

The issue was fixed at the time but not before the pigs could cause some damage.

The animals managed to chew through neighborhoods and athletic fields causing over $25,000 in damage. The trapper was able to get rid of more than a dozen of them but just a few years later they have returned in search of water and food.

Jonathan Katayanagi, director of Lafayette's Parks Trails and Recreation told KRON they have been fielding over a hundred wild hog complaint calls. He now has the unofficial title as the area's pig professional.

Sections of the Lafayette Community Park have been closed off to keep people and pets safe from the wild pigs. The city is also urging people to keep their dogs on a leash at the park to avoid any possible run-ins with the pigs.
