A restaurant on the Redwood City-Atherton border is serving customers burgers for $50.

So what makes this burger so expensive and special?

The burger takes six months to make, according to NBC Bay Area.

The "Black Label Burger" at Selby's contains a patty with a mixture of dry-aged hangar steak, short rib, and check. It's served on a brioche bun with French cheese and Australian black truffle, with a side of fries.

Chef Mark Sullivan told SF Chronicle, "The burger is best eaten rare or medium-rare, right in that sweet spot. The meat is so good you can eat it rare, honestly. But that taste with the caramelization, that added sweetness, is just what makes it great."

Selby's first opened on El Camino Real in July of 2019 to much fanfare. Their burger's hefty price tag made many foodies across the Bay Area curious.

After a long-time closure due to the pandemic, Selby's reopened its doors on Tuesday, September 7. They celebrated their return with a three-course menu for $65, according to SF Eater.
