The parents of accused Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley have pleaded not guilty to all charges they face in the tragic incident.

Police say Jennifer and James Crumbley were apprehended by authorities overnight Saturday (December 4) after a multi-agency manhunt was conducted throughout Oxford, Michigan and neighboring areas.

According to reports, the couple was found hiding in a basement of a Detroit-area art studio less than a mile from the US-Canada border.

"They appeared to be hiding in the building," Detroit Police Chief James E. White told reporters after they were arrested, adding that the person who let them inside could also be charged.

Authorities received a tip from a business owner who reported a vehicle matching the description was in his parking lot.

Jennifer Crumbley cried during court proceedings Saturday morning as she told the judge she understood the charges against her.

Jennifer and her husband each facing four counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the shooting their son carried out Tuesday (November 30) at Oxford High School, that left four students dead.

The prosecutor in the case told reporters Friday (December 3) that the Crumbleys' actions before the shooting were "egregious," revealing text messages between Jennifer and her son the moment news broke about the shooting.

"Ethan, don't do it," one of the messages reportedly read. The prosecutor said James Crumbley rushed home to check if his newly-purchased gun was still at home when news of an active shooter at Oxford High broke.

A judge set bail at $500,000 each.
