A new $2.3 billion Delta terminal opened up at LAX with 27 gates and a 30,000-square-foot club lounge. According to KTLA, the check-in area features a 250-foot digital back wall and an expanded security checkpoint and baggage claim area.

The terminal's lounge also features soundproof work booths, a bar, and an outdoor sky deck with a seating area that shows views of the runways. According to Spectrum News, the debut of the new terminal is part of LAX's $15 billion transformation in preparation for the 2028 Olympics. This week, seven security lanes will be available to passengers and another seven will be available by the end of the summer, 11 of which will be automated.

The $2.3 billion terminal modernization project is the first part of a phased opening that will extend through next year with a new Terminal 3 concourse and bridge that will connect passengers to the Tom Bradley International terminal next door without having to go through a second security screening.

Furthermore, this week the last bit of concrete is being poured for the highly-anticipated People Mover train system that will shuttle passengers in and out of terminals. The automated electric rail system stretches 2 and1/4 miles and is expected to be open to the public by the fall or winter of 2023.
