Grab your coats, Denverites! An incoming storm may bring Denver its first snow of the season, according to CBS Colorado.

Forecasters say the storm will drop rain on the Western Slope by late Wednesday evening (November 2), turning into snow in the mountains, including the I-70 corridor. Denver and the Front Range are expected to get scattered rain showers Thursday afternoon (November 3) before changing into the white stuff after 6 p.m.

The white stuff is a little late this year. Experts say the average first snow in the Mile High City is October 18. Last year, Denver broke its record for its latest snow day ever: December 10.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for areas west of Vail Pass, which may get six to 12 inches of snow. Officials may expand the advisory into Summit County, Winter Park, and Rocky Mountain National Park region for at least four to eight inches of snow in those areas.

Most neighborhoods in Denver and the Front Range will get no more than 2 inches of accumulation, mostly on the grass.

Temperatures will plummet to a high of 50 on Thursday and a high of 44 on Friday (November 4). Things will warm up some heading into the weekend.
