Name a better duo than electronic music and cheese.
I know, I know—not the duo you were expecting. But when you think about it, it’s kinda perfect. At least, that was my totally objective opinion when I heard Eventbrite had teamed up with culinary expert and Queer Eye star Antoni Porowski to help introduce the Cheese Rave — where artisanal cheese tasting meets electronic dance music — to the world.
"Cheese and electronic music might seem like an odd pairing — and it is! But they both inspire passion and sensory joy," Porowski shared in a statement. "This is exactly what makes Eventbrite special — it's where your different interests can coexist and even enhance each other, no matter how unique or odd."
So what exactly is a cheese rave? Well, it’s “a multi-sensory playground where artisanal flavors meet pulsing beats,” per a press release. And Eventbrite recently brought this vision to life for the first stop of the Cheese Rave tour — in none other than New York City.
The night featured go-go cheese dancers (yes, you read that right), a lineup of seven DJs, endless cheese samples, a mac-and-cheese food truck, and a massive installation showcasing cheeses both known and not-so-known. Did I mention Porowski was there for it all, further enhancing the full Cheese Rave experience?
According to Eventbrite, the Cheese Rave is just the beginning of its upcoming mashup events, with plans to create “more of these genre-bending experiences that bring together different passions in unexpected ways.”
“What makes these mashup events special is that they create spaces where different vibes and interests blend naturally,” Porowski explained. “You’ll meet others who get what you’re into — even if what you’re into doesn’t fit into just one box. Because at the end of the day, it’s about connection.”
