Texas is home to endless natural vistas, scenic locations, and charming small towns that exist as stray map dots off the beaten path of highways to urban jungles.

These alluring locations are often hidden gems, enjoyed by locals and visitors looking for peace away from the city. Small towns boast a slower pace of life, unique local culture, a strong sense of community, and, sometimes, a lower cost of living.

While there are hunters of small towns scattered throughout Texas, only one is revered as the best!

According to a list compiled by World Atlas, the best small town in Texas is Marfa. This charming locale houses welcoming residents, quaint shops, and offers plenty of beautiful outdoor experiences without the traffic and crowds.

Here's what World Atlas had to say about the best small town in the entire state:

"Marfa is an oasis of artistic beauty resting in the high deserts of West Texas. This seemingly normal town of 1,800, far astray from civilization, bolsters a vast history of creativity through the arts. From the minimalistic art of Donald Judd to the historical architecture, there is plenty for tourists to adore. If you’re here for this side of Marfa, start with a trip to the various art museums and galleries spread throughout town. Namely, Fort D. A. Russell, the Ballroom Marfa, and the Judd Foundation provide insights into all sorts of art styles and techniques. Next, take a look at the stunning buildings in town, like the Presidio County Courthouse. These buildings have detailed designs and a grand appearance perfect for some photos."
