A yogurt products sold in stores around the country, including those in Ohio, has been recalled over the concern for causing a major risk to consumers' health.
Knockro Inc. has issued a recall of its Bonya-branded yogurt parfaits after it was determined some could contained almonds that were not listed on the product packaging, according to a recall notice shared May 12 by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. The undeclared ingredient poses a "serious or life-threatening" risk of allergic reaction to consumers with an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds.
The parfaits — sold in 12-ounce, clear cups in a variety of flavors like vanilla, strawberry, raspberry, peach, mango and blueberry — were distributed to retail stores nationwide and feature an expiration date of May 5, 2025.
As of May 12, there have been no reported illnesses in connection to the recall. An investigation into the error "indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company's production and packaging processes," per the FDA.
Anyone who purchased the affected products is encouraged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund and those with questions can contact the company at 914-313-6905.
