Jersey Shore alum Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi recently learned why her birth mother gave her up for adoption.
According to US Weekly, the reality star, who was adopted from Chile 37 years ago, got the opportunity to speak with her birth mother through a translator on the June 5 episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation and learned a series of family truths.
"For 36 years, I’ve been thinking about this question, and now the answer is going to pop up any second. This is insane," she explained to bestie Jenni "JWoww" Farley. The translator, speaking for the standout's birth mother, revealed that she gave Snooki up for adoption because her birth father left when she was born.
"When she realized she was pregnant, she told her partner, your father, and he just disappeared, leaving her by herself. She didn’t have any support at that moment, so that was the only option that she had. Even though it was painful, she had to let you go. [Your birth mom is] happy to know that you are a family now, and she’s very happy knowing that you were okay. She’s really happy she talked to you, and she loves you."
Snooki, mother to Lorenzo Dominic LaValle, Giovanna Marie LaValle, and Angelo James LaValle, assured she was able to find a silver lining in being adopted, saying that none of what she has today would have been possible if her birth mother hadn’t given her up for adoption.
"Obviously, I wouldn’t even be here if she didn’t put me up for adoption. I have amazing parents. I had a great childhood. And then meeting my [Jersey Shore] roommates, and then meeting Jionni [LaValle]— and then having my kids."
